The first fund benefits the Institute of
Ecology (IE)
of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA)
and the Forest Sciences College (ESFOR),
belonging to the Universidad Mayor de San Simón
(UMSS)
of Cochabamba.

The
use of these resources contributes to the continuity of
their operations, expansion of their infrastructure, purchase
of equipment and materials, as well as improvement of academic
and research capabilities.

 |
The second
fund supports the implementation of the Postgraduate
Center in Ecology and Conservation (CPEC), under the
tuition of the IE. Its purpose is to contribute to the
permanent education of professionals specialized in
conservation planning and management, focusing on the
sustainable use of natural resources and the environment.
. |

|
This enables the participation
of 20 professionals from different disciplines every two years.
To date 100 graduate students finished the master’s
degree program.
It also fosters the promotion of interdisciplinary
research, analysis and debate with inputs from the socio-economic
and natural sciences.
|
| |
|
| 4. Scholarship Fund |
|
The Postgraduate Scholarship
Program grants partial funding to students of the CPEC to
prepare their theses. A requirement for this scholarship
states that candidates must be able to provide their own
partial contribution.
Since the re-structuring
of the Fund in 2004, 11 degree projects have been approved
and 4 students of course V and VI obtained their degree.
